About the TC101 SPACE
The TC101 SPACE of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is located at Room 101, Teaching C of the lower campus and covers a total area of about 250 square meters, with a height of about 8 meters. Since November 2017 it has been officially put into use and is managed and operated by the University Arts Centre.
The TC101 SPACE endeavors to promote excellent artists and art projects. Based inside the campus, it provides staff and students with a platform to appreciate, discuss and get engaged in contemporary art. It is an essential part of general education in the University and has become a significant window to introduce the diversity of campus culture and art forms. Through various exhibition projects, the operation team works with creative artists to explore the potential of the space continuously, breaking through the boundary, and creating a public art space on campus with more possibilities and flexibility.
UAC will manage three main art groups and work on their annual plans with them.
The Student Chorus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was established in October 2014. Over the last four years, adhering to the concept of innovation and diversification, the chorus is successful in performing a wide range of classical and popular songs both in Chinese and foreign languages.
The Chinese Orchestra of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was established in August 2018. Its members play a number of musical instruments such as zheng, pipa, erhu, medium ruan, bamboo flute, cucurbit flute, and ethnic percussions.
The Orchestra of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was established in 2015, by undergraduates passionate about classical music.
As the cradle of university culture and art, the University Art Centre (UAC) endeavours to enrich the campus community and engage students in interesting, inspirational and in-depth experience of culture and art through educational programmes and projects. For its enduring commitment to art education and the desire to encourage students to stay enthusiastic in culture and art, UAC will lead a diverse range of high-quality projects.
*The University Art Centre (UAC) was established on January 1, 2019. UAC took the place of the previous University Planning and Coordination Office (UPCO) which was dissolved on the same day.
