2020 Concert of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen
The annual concert of CUHK-Shenzhen was held at the Shenzhen Concert Hall on the evening of December 6th, 2020. The event was highlighted by the rendition of selected musical performances by the Chorus, Orchestra, Chinese Orchestra, and Han Yi Club X Max Dancing Club of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, as well as the Special Guest’s performance by Chinese pop singer Ping An. Guests of the night included University executives represented by President Yansheng Xu, alumni from home and abroad, students and parents, faculty, and friend from all sectors.
For the first time, this year's concert was simulcasting online. Powered by several online live streaming platforms, alumni, parents and guests were able to share the musical feast in the cloud anywhere in the world.
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, CUHK-Shenzhen, through songs and music, expressed its gratitude to all walks of life and wished a better future for Shenzhen, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the whole country.
In addition to classical Chinese music and orchestra performances, this year's Concert featured a rhythmic Manding West African drum and dance performance, a cappella performance, as well as Chinese classical music and dance performance. Highlights of the event also included "Fly Me to the Moon" performed by special guest Gilbert Li, one of the first batch of undergraduate graduates of the School of Economics and Management (SME), with the student a cappella group, as well as "See You Tomorrow" and "My People, My Country" sung by pop singer Ping An. Each performance was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Throughout the evening, the audience's emotions were captured by the gorgeous and splendid performance of music and songs that blended the exotic and the mellow classics.
Finally, the music and songs brought by the Chorus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, including "A Letter from Grandpa", "Show Yourself", "Farewell" and "Sogno di Volare" climaxed the concert, resounding through the Shenzhen Concert Hall with infinite hope for the University, boundless love for Shenzhen and sincere blessing for the motherland.
