【Profile of the Guests】
Director Yu Weihao
Yu Weihao, graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts with a master's degree in 2007. He was a visiting scholar at the Film Department of San Francisco State University in 2013, and received the Grand Prize Award at the Canadian International Film Festival in 2019 for his short film The Bridge.
Producer Li Haiyi
Founder/Executive Director of Phenomenon Pictures (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.; Founder/Chief Director of Shenzhen Time Culture Media Co., Ltd.. His documentary Worldwide Friend Circle won the silver award of Record China Prize in 2017 and Arriving Pengcheng won the first prize of Humanity China Prize.
The protagonist Luo Huifen
As the female lead of Cantonese Opera, Luo Huifen has performed in over 50 traditional and modern plays. She is currently the director of Shenzhen Bao'an District Haoxiang Cantonese Opera Troupe and Qiaoyun Cantonese Opera Troupe, the vice president of Shenzhen Bao'an District Theatre Association, and the tutor of the Cantonese Opera Troupe of CUHK-Shenzhen Chinese Opera Association.
【Synopsis】
In the nineties, the Wanfeng Cantonese Opera Troupe was established in Wanfeng Village, Shajing Town, Shenzhen City in south China. It once had a glorious time and even performed in Beijing on behalf of Guangdong Province. After 2000, the troupe was restructured and the village committee cancelled its funding. When facing financial difficulties, rumors of disbanding and low morale in the troupe, Luo Huifen, the leading actress and the head of the troupe, still struggled to persevere and lead the troupe to perform in the countryside during the Spring Festival, without knowing that this was the last spring troupe of Wanfeng Cantonese Opera Troupe. A few months later, the Wanfeng Cantonese Opera Troupe was disbanded, yet Luo Huifen reestablished another group herself and stuck to it in hardship. It wasn't until 2020 that she started a live webcast to continue spreading her singing of Cantonese opera ......

LI Yingyu
Lecturer of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. She graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a PhD in philosophy. Her research interests include Ming and Qing Dynasty novels and operas, opera criticism, Ming Dynasty literati culture, etc.
LV Shitu
Lecturer of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a PhD in philosophy. His research interests include classical Chinese opera and Ming and Qing Dynasty literature.
The Chinese Opera Association of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was established in 2021, featuring Cantonese opera, and adhering to the school's philosophy of combining tradition and modernity, providing a platform for students who love Chinese opera and related arts to exchange, learn and showcase, hoping to let Chinese opera, a series of civilization's artistic treasures, take root on our campus, and create a campus cultural card with Chinese roots, based on the university, and with a global outlook.
