Wu Di
Wu is an Associate Professor of musicology and supervisor on the Master in Musicology of the Xinghai Conservatory of Music. Wu is the director of the Lingnan Music Popularization Professional Committee in the Guangdong Province Nationalities Orchestra Society and the vice chairman of Guangzhou Yuexiu District Musician Association. He was also deputy executive editor-in-chief of An Encyclopedia of Chinese Music – Book of Gaohu, a publication jointly published by China Nationalities Orchestra Society and Shanghai Music Publishing House.
He is a dissertation review expert of the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center under the Ministry of Education.
Yu Lefu
Yu Lefu graduated from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music (XCM). He currently teaches at the Department of Chinese Music of XCM. Yu studied gaohu under the tutelage of Yu Qiwei, Chen Guochan and Bu Canrong. He won numerous awards including the Best Performance Award at the 4th Wenhua Awards. As the lead, he performed extensively in the Mainland and many countries with the “Nam ting Wui” Cantonese Music Ensemble. He is also the artistic director, guitarist and composer of the rock band “Chui Ball Tong”.
Chan Chiu-yin
Chan Chiu-yin is a seasoned music administrator, founder and executive director of the Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble in Hong Kong. He is currently an honorary committee member of the China Dizi Society, a committee member of the Dizi Society of the Chinese Musicians’ Association, an honorary executive committee member of the Guangdong Dizi Society, an executive member of the Cantonese Music Art Centre, an executive member of the Hong Kong Bamboo Flute Society, a part-time instructor of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and resident conductor of The Hong Kong YWCA Chinese Orchestra.
Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble
As a locally influenced, exquisite and energetic Chinese music group, Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble is a registered charitable organisation supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Founded in 2003, the Ensemble promotes Chinese music in the local cultural scene. From its traditional Lingnan culture foundations to merging the aesthetics of the East and West, the Ensemble lives up to its artistic motto of ‘small but elegant, simple but refined’ by presenting traditional and contemporary works with a distinctive local flair. From 2011 onwards, the Ensemble has been steered to new heights by the Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble Limited. The Ensemble founder, Chan Chiu-yin, serves as executive director of the board and the renowned conductor, Ho Man-chuen, is the artistic advisor.
