On May 8th, resident artist Tony Yike YANG will stage a concert on campus. He will invite five members from the Piano Department of the Music Union to perform together with him on this stage, each showcasing the learning outcome during the master classes. Let's immerse ourselves in the beautiful piano melodies and feel the charm of music.

About the Artist
Tony Yike Yang
Hailed by CBC Music as one of Canada’s finest young musicians, pianist Tony Yike Yang first rose to international acclaim at the age of 16 after becoming the youngest-ever laureate in the history of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, winning the 5th prize in 2015. Born in Chongqing and raised in Toronto, Tony graduated from Harvard University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Currently pursuing his Master of Music at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover under Prof. Arie Vardi, Tony is named as “One To Watch” by Scala Radio UK in 2024.

Linda Ruijing XIA is a sophomore from Ling College and majors in Finance in the School of Management and Economics. She became learning the pinao at the age of 5. Currently she is a member of the Piano department in the Music Union.

William Yu ZHENG
William Yu ZHENG is a senior from Diligentia College and majors in Applied Mathematics in the School of Science and Engineering. He began learning the piano at the age of 5. Currently he is one of the piano accompanists of CUHK-Shenzhen Chorus and a member of the Piano Department in the Music Union.
Lynn Yuxi LIN
Lynn Yuxi LIN is a freshman from Minerva College, studying in the School of Management and Economics. She began learning the piano at the age of 5. Currently she is a member of the Piano Department in the Music Union.

Christina Zhiyun TAN
Christina Zhiyun TAN is a junior from Shaw College and majors in Finance in the School of Management and Economics. She began learning the piano at the age of 5. Currently she is the leader of the Piano Department in the Music Union.

Adria Xinyang LIAN
Adria Xinyang LIAN is a junior from Muse College and majors in Translation in the School of Humanities and Social Science. She began learning the piano at the age of 6. Currently she is a member of the Piano Department in the Music Union.

In 2016, the University initiated the Artist-in-Residence Programme to create an artistic atmosphere on campus and to elevate student's aesthetic taste. We regularly invite top artists from various fields to reside on campus, create artworks and hold workshops with students. Artists will work with or guide students to create or appreciate artworks through workshops or lectures. Artists will also take into account resources available off campus to contribute towards our development.
