【Course Objectives】
Peking opera is the treasure of Chinese culture, which is a complex art form combining singing, reading, doing, and playing. There is profound Chinese traditional meaning behind every course. In this semester, students will be exposed to the traditional Chinese aesthetics hidden in Beijing opera gestures. Through the teaching method of words and action, wearing a unique part of the opera costume - the water sleeves, and experiencing the breathing in movements, students can open the door to traditional Chinese operas, passing on and sharing the happiness of opera art.

Yi Yi
Yi Yi, whose real name is Zhang Mi, graduated from the Performing Arts Department of the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. Yi Yi studied to perform different types of roles: Dao Ma Dan (a female character in Peking Opera who is versed in stage combat), Gui Men Dan (a role in Kunqu Opera featured unmarried young lady who often stays at home), Tie Dan (the secondary female character in Chinese opera). She used to be a star mentor at CCTV Entertainment Media Co.,Ltd., and a coordinator as well as planner at the Shenzhen Academy of Opera Art. In 2014, she starred in the small theater dance drama Paradise Interrupted. Since 2017, she has collaborated with over 20 schools in Nanshan, Shenzhen to hold the activity "Opera in Campus" and enabled opera music to spread in 13 cooperative base schools.
【Art Courses】
University Arts Centre will offer courses in a variety of art forms, either credit bearing or non-credit bearing. Artists will be invited to design instructional plans and visiting lecturers and professors will be invited to give lectures. This will reinforce the aim of the Centre, which is to enrich the culture and art atmosphere of the University with artistic activities.
